Zackig! These fingerless gloves are for those who find colorwork too troublesome but still like to have something colorful on their hands.
Learn a unique mitt construction that does not require knitting in the round, (except for the thumb). Starting with a striped panel that works into the thumb, stitches are then picked up and worked in a mosaic pattern. Finish off with a 3-needle bind off and i-cord bind off. You’ll not be bored!
This construction allows for custom length and width for an ideal fit.
Class Fee: $40 with yarn purchase at Yarnability. $80 class fee if using yarn from stash.
Yarn: Pick a self-striping sock yarn with solid colors and a contrasting solid.
Needles: US size 2 DPNS for working flat panel and thumb, 16-24” circular for working flat mosaic.
Pattern: Zackig pattern on Ravelry
HOMEWORK: Cast on and work the Thump Panel Set Up (rows 1-58 on page 5) prior to class.

Session 1 on November 19/22 will cover the thumb gusset, pick up for Hand Panel, and mosaic stitch pattern, including using the chart.
Session 2 on December 3/6 we’ll do the 3-needle bind off join and I-cord bind off edges and make sure you are on track to make the second mitt.
Note about gauge: This pattern has flexibility with gauge due to the custom fit construction. You want a fabric with average stitch tightness. The garter will be looser than the mosaic pattern. If you tend to knit average or loose, use a size 2 needle. If you’re tight, it’s probably best on a size 3.
