Summer Shawl Series
While learning and refining techniques, complete a shawl a month and you’ll have three gifts for giving to someone who’s been extraordinary to you or been through a lot during these last few months. You could also have three holiday gifts ready. Each month we’ll meet for an online class to cast on and learn the techniques needed and then you’ll continue on your own. Email support is available throughout the month. Finishing and blocking tips will be addressed during classes.
JUNE 27: Barnstable Shawl
The soft colors and feel of Tussah Kissed (alpaca, linen, silk) result in a gentle and comfortable shawl. The mosaic technique is an opportunity to blend two colors while using only one color per row. Focus is on mosaic technique and chart reading. Pick colors with good contrast to show off the stitch pattern. Pattern included in series fee and will be added to your Ravelry library.
JULY 25: Opposites Attract
This Sueno yarn gives beautiful drape and the saturated colors are ideal for pairing for this optical illusion project. Learn how to do a garter tab start on a shawl, create a knit-as-you-go I-cord edge around the neckline Knit flat until the top edge measures 20” to 24”, then joined and finished in the round. The only weaving in of ends is two strands at the bottom. Other ends are hidden in the I-cord edge. Free pattern you can add to your Ravelry library.
AUGUST 29: Bamboo Delight
Take a beautiful skein of randomly striping yarn, Bamboo Pop Sock, add short rows and use your color changes to your advantage to create an artistic shawl. This yarn is light and soft, so the project is designed that it can be used as a scarf over a top rather than an outer wear accessory. Garter, eyelets and short rows, all put to good use. The pattern, exclusive to Yarnability, is provided in the class fee.
Class Fee Includes: Yarn for each project (5 skeins in total), three online class meetings, and a digital copy of the Barnstable and Bamboo Delight patterns.
Class Fee: $130 (not including tax)
