Summer Flies: Learn Lace

Summer Flies shawl

The Summer Flies shawl is a great introduction to lace. This project is knit with worsted weight yarn and US size 8 needles. Our shop sample uses Re-Jeans, a 100% recycled cotton yarn!

“Re-Jeans is unique because it is not just a cotton yarn. It is a recycled yarn made from recycled denim cotton. The fibres come from remnants of jeans fabric which are dissolved and washed step by step down to the individual fibres. These fibres are then blended again and spun into a yarn. The recycling process gives the yarn a beautifully rustic and appealing structure. It is reminiscent of Bourette silk.”

Class participants in this class will learn a basic garter stitch tab cast on, and basic lace techniques for increases and decreases. This class we will intentionally place holes in our work!

This pattern is written row by row – no charts for those just starting lace knitting and prefer to work line by line.
