New to Yarnability, Organic Cotton DK from Great Adirondack Yarns, is a hand painted 100% cotton yarn with a soft touch. The lightness, drape, and color of this yarn will make for a lovely summer garment.
Join Susan online to knit a summer top, the Sierra Lacy Tunic.
Dates and times:
- May 2, 9, 16 from 10am-12pm.
- All three classes will be held online using Zoom.
- Final class to view finished project June 6. Location TBD.
May 2, Class 1: We’ll start with a gauge swatch and learning the stitch patterns, some measurements and guidance to custom fit for your body, taking into account the yarn and gauge.
May 9, Class 2: The project starts with a provisional cast on (Don’t know how? We’ll teach you.) and work the stitch patterns from the underarm level to the neck, using the stitch patterns to get the correct measurements. A neck opening is created, then the back replicates the front.
May 16, Class 3: We’ll remove the provisional cast on and put the stitches on the needles to work the remainder in the round to the desired length. Before we turn you loose, we’ll demonstrate trying the work in progress on your body to get the ideal length before binding off.
Yarn: DK weight. We suggest Organic Cotton DK by Great Adirondack Yarns. Other yarn choices available: Flax or Lina by Universal Yarn. Make an appointment online to shop what is in stock at Yarnability!
Pattern: The free pattern we’re using is Sierra’s Lacy Tunic on Ravelry.
Supplies: 24-32” needle size 5, but you will need sizes 4-7 to test gauge.
