Can’t get away this summer?! Come take a “knitting trip” to Germany! We will use a pattern written by a German pattern designer paired with a German yarn…
Strandwanderer (German for a person who walks along the beach) by Lea Viktoria is a bias-shaped shawl in garter stitch. While basic in shape, the character of the shawl comes from changing the knitting direction. Learn short rows, wrap and turn, picking up stitches, and optionally: backwards knitting to avoid turning when knitting rows of just 3 stitches.
We suggest Wollmeise yarn which has the desired repeat of 8-14 inches and lots of yardage, but other yarns can work too.
Join Susan at Yarnability on Sunday August 27 at 10am-12pm to knit the Strandwanderer and learn backwards knitting!
