Tired of knitting for others this autumn? Want to try something new? Ready to challenge your knitting a bit?
Brioche knitting is quite the rage and if you look at patterns on Ravelry you can see why. We’ll learn using two colors so the dramatic effect of color dominance on each side is apparent.
Brioche is tricky because you learn a new way of working a k1,YO and you work two rows in one color before changing to the other color. Keeping track of where you are is one of the most important things you’ll learn in this workshop.
The first session involves becoming familiar with the brioche stitches, language and pattern reading. In session two we’ll play around with some patterning using increases and decreases. For the third session, we’ll launch a project based on your preferences and how well you have grasped brioche knitting. Plan on practice time at home each week between sessions.
$60 for the three sessions is a bargain – you get handouts, help and a terrific teacher. We’ve chosen Alden (250 yards of single ply Wool/Alpaca/Acrylic) from Tahki Stacey Charles because of the great colors and pleasure to work with in your hands. Pick colors with strong contrast. You’ll need size 3 (3.25mm) needles, 24” circular. For the first class, a pair of DPNs size 3 preferred.
Class Size: 8 student maximum. Call or email to reserve your space!
