Envelope Border Class

Crocheted Envelope Border

Join Julie at Yarnability to learn how to create envelope borders around your projects to hide your ends or add a sturdy edge. This popular finishing technique is favored by mosaic crocheters.

While this technique is crochet, it can also be used on knitted items.

If you have taken Introduction to mosaic crochet with Julie, this is a great refresher for working the borders!

Students must bring to class a crochet or knit swatch:

  • Using worsted weight yarn, knit or crochet a 4″ to 6″ square swatch
  • Yarn for the border should be a high contrast color to your swatch.
  • Hooks! Bring the crochet hook you used for your swatch, plus one size larger!
  • Knitters! Bring a crochet hook in the same mm as your swatch knitting needle, plus one size larger.
  • Locking stitch markers; you will need at least 8

Skills needed to participate: Students must be able to work basic crochet stitches Independently (slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet).
